Down the centuries the estate
was held by men who played a prominent role in the times in which they lived.
Many were members of Parliament or held high public office and all played
their part in the ebb and flow of political upheaval.
Where there is horse breeding there is always hope and Castlemartin was to
see two horses bred on the property come to prominence in the 1920's. They
were Music Hall and Be Careful who won the Scottish and Irish Nationals respectively.
Castlemartin continues to turn out top class horses year after year. Sir Anthony
and Lady O' Reilly now have a broodmare band which exceeds 150 mares.
These mares are based at Castlemartin Stud in Ireland, Haras de La Louviere
in France and Matagorda Farm in Kentucky. This enables us to use the best
stallions from both sides of the Atlantic and allows us to bring fresh bloodlines
into our mares.
Mares include 85 Group / Listed winners or dam of Group / Listed winners.
Sir Anthony and Lady O´Reilly have bred the winners of more than 130 Group / Listed races. Lady O´Reilly is the breeder of recent wonder horse Helissio and also of 2004 Champion Latice.
Update to 150 Group / Listed winners. Lady O' Reilly is the breeder of recent dual Gr.1 winner Lawman (winner of the French Derby in 2007).
Sir Anthony and Lady O´Reilly race in the famous black and white hoops of
Belvedere College in Ireland and in the Blue and Gold of Skymarc Farm in France.
With horses now in training in Ireland, England, France, Australia, the USA
and South Africa the sky is the limit for 2008.
